Goodbye Cicely "Foo Foo Deboo"

Cicely died last night around 7:15pm after a sudden illness. She was around 10 years old.

This is a picture of her from a few years back when she was on my lap in kitty nirvana.

Follow up to Westboro Baptist protesting Silverton, OR Transgender Mayor

HA! Westboro Baptist Church protesters came in droves to protest the new transgender Mayor of Silverton. OK 4 (FOUR!) protesters showed up including one of the many adult children of the church's founder. They sported signs saying "Fags Are Beasts", "You're Going To Hell", "America Is Doomed", "Your Pastor Is A Whore", "God Hates You", and "Antichrist Obama".

In supprot for the Mayor was 150 citizens of Silverton and nearby places. Signs shown included "Stu Rocks", "Jesus Loves Stu", "Silverton Together United", and "Our Town, Our Mayor".

What's with the hate and militancy Westboro Baptist?

I hate hate, and I believe God does too. I don't hate anything, hate is a very strong word to me, but I do hate hate.

NBA attendance is down overall

Certain markets (Memphis, Philly, Charlotte, and Sacramento) are having problems keeping seats filled. I would kinda guess it watching a couple of games (Sacramento and LA Clippers both losing at home to an injured San Antonio team).

Portland is one of the exceptions, with Oden and Roy playing good (this week for sure) almost every game is sold out. That and being the only Northwest Division in the Northwest nowadays.

The complete list.

"Meh" is offically in the dictionary...what do you think of that?...Meh.

Meh, a word I use myself (thanks Bart!), is in the dictionary!

Westboro Baptist (not Baptist!) Church set to protest Silverton's new Transgender Mayor

This Weekend the Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kansas (The God HATES Fags Church) is gonna be in Portland protesting PSU (gay leader), Sweden Consulate (God HATES Swednen), Germany Consulate (God REALLY hates Germany), and the new Transgender Mayor of Silverton, Stu Rasmussen (Trans Mayor Stu Masmussen - God Hates Fags!), Finland Consulate (God Hates Finland and their filth! 10220 SW Greenburg Rd. Are you kidding me? What could be worse than Finland?)

The quotes are directly from the Westboro Baptist Church site http://www.godhatesfags.com/schedule.html

Hmmmmm......

Let's put some truth in here...GOD'S TRUTH!

1. They misspelled Stu Rasmussen's name.
2. Stu Rasmussen is not a "FAG"...He has a girlfriend of 35 years.
3. "I am a dude," he said in a interview after being elected. "I am a heterosexual male who appears to be a female."
4. Stu Rasmussen is a long time resident of Silverton and owns and runs the movie theater there.
5. The very conservative city of Silverton, a very american city, which is 8-10 miles northeast of where I live, is a city where residents voted him based on policy issues.

OK on the church's site, which looks like it was typed by a junior high student says...

"We are going to come to your little Oregon town to speak some words of truth to this 60 year old pervert. Nobody else will just tell him to STOP THAT!"

Pervert? I will tell you what a pervert is. Salem Police arrested a "perveret" in the parking lot at my work a few weeks ago. He was in his truck, watching people, making notes, and had his pants pulled down. In his little cooler was not food but porn. That's a pervert, spanking it in a public parking lot.

The new mayor has never done anything perverted in public. Usually you'll see him outside his theater just hanging out talking to the citizens of Silverton.

Tell him to stop what exactly?

"Everyone else (i.e. besides Westboro Baptist Church) despises him so much that they will gladly watch him morph himself into a snaggle-toothed old witch because they know they are all guilty of the same or worse sins."

I don't despise him, I don't know anyone else that does.
Same or worse sins? Doesn't the Bible say a sin is a sin in God's eyes?
Even if he was a snaggle-toothed old witch, he probably still be voted mayor because he loves (that's a big word Westboro Baptist) his city.

"Leviticus 19:17 Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thine heart: thou shalt in any wise rebuke thy neighbour, and not suffer sin upon him. 18 Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD. You won't do this duty, but we will. AMEN!"

Sounds like the church needs to follow the "Love (THERE IS THAT WORD AGAIN) thy Neighbor" passage.

What could be worse than Finland? Being a member of the Westboro Baptist (again, not a Baptist) Church of Topeka, KS?

Circuit Chity Closes 155 stores...Pacific Northwest spared.

The link above in the title shows the list of what Circuit Schity stores are closing 12/30 acorss the US. Only one in the Northwest is closing, which is a surprise to me. The store here in town opened in February of this year, after the old store closed after the holidays. The new store was so new that even the employees were new! That turned me off. I'm sure they fired all the old employees and hired new ones at lower wages. Some answers I got at the new store when I was looking for merchandise affirmed this belief. Haven't been there in months now.

At Best Buy I know where the new release movies and music are on street day when I walk into the store. They are not still in boxes or hiding on the back bottom of the New Release fixture.

Oh yeah the old building? Still abadoned, still empty. Nice way to waste money.

Thieves steal 300 gallons of gas

So it's a slow news night and the top story on the local FOX news channel is about 300 gallons of (cheap) gas getting stolen, but how much is 300 gallons news guy? Click on the link to see the video and 30-35 seconds in he'll explain it to you.

(I would of posted the video here but it started for me right away when I previewed this post. So just clicky.)

If you continue watching the video he even tells you how much money the gas station owner lost. Glad it didn't happen in June!

NBA Season Underway...To A Funny Start

The 2008/2009 season has started and I am excited. OK so Oden is out 2-4 weeks and the Lakers are off to have an 80-2 record (gah!), but there is good stuff like the opening of the matchup of last season's early playoff matchup of the Suns and Spurs...

Oh yeah 2 thumbs up for that funny prank white bearded Pop! Shaq complained when the Spurs hacked him a lot back in the playoffs this last spring.

CSS Newbie...need help

UPDATE Fixed it today.

I am a CSS virgin and need to figure how to or need help with what seems a very easy edit. I just want my "danganet.blogspot.com" above my header picture to be centered. That's all.

Here is the "CSS/HTML" for that:

<*div id='header-wrapper'>
<*b:section class="header" id="header" maxwidgets="1" showaddelement="no">
<*b:widget id="Header1" locked="true" title="danganet.blogspot.com (Header)" type="Header">
<*b:includable id="main">

I put * because nothing else was displaying the HTML.

Was that gas or diesel? Why not surpise you!

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - Drivers in the Eugene-Springfield area beware: you might be cruising around with some bad fuel. A gas mix-up at a Springfield station left several cars damaged, and there could be many more.

A fuel driver from Jackson Oil made a delivery to the 76 Fairway station on 4059 Main Street in Springfield on Monday at 2 p.m. However, it turns out he filled some diesel into the regular unleaded tanks, and some regular into the diesel tanks.

The 76 manager says they didn't find out until Tuesday at 8a.m.

Kroger recalls ground beef...charges you more to replace

Kroger recalled all styrofoam wrapped ground beef last week. I bought a package the day before they announced the recall. Since then I got a message on a receipt that said DO NOT CONSUME THIS PRODUCT. So I felt inclined to take it back to the store. I could either get a refund or replace the product. I opted to replace it. What I didn't realize is that to replace the product I had to pay the difference of the price I paid last week for the stryrofoamed wrapped product to the tubed packages that were the only product available at the time I exchanged this week. The difference was $9.50 additional to the price I paid the week before! I said no, just give me a refund. I should of kept it and ignored the message in BOLD letters on the receipt and cooked it to 160F. I called Kroger to complain. When an item is recalled usually the corporations repair or replace the item at no cost to the consumer, not charge them more. I should of got it at Safeway where it was on sale for slightly less and wasn't recalled. Oh well.

Goat hops on bus...doesn't have right fare

Goat Reunited With Owner After Boarding Bus

A pygmy goat boarded a commuter bus in southeast Portland Monday night, leading a bus dispatcher to call 911.You can't ride TriMet without a ticket or a pass, especially, if you're a goat.
Officials said the bus was on layover at Southeast 94th Avenue and Foster Road when the goat wandered through the bus doors.
Concerned of nearby freeway and street traffic, the bus driver alerted TriMet dispatchers."I've got a very strange request," the caller told an emergency dispatcher. "A goat is on our bus. We need him off."
A Portland police officer took the 47-pound pygmy goat to a Multnomah County Animal Services shelter in Troutdale. The officer attached a note to the goat; it read: "Didn't have the correct fare."

Spurs are out...wahhhhhhh!

ABC/ESPN is getting their wet dream, it looks like this...Lakers-Celtics 20 years later.

I worked every night when the Lakers and Spurs played so I watched zero minutes of the series, and that is good because I would be frustrated!

2 of the games with a 20 point lead demolished by Kobe sucks and his crew. Yes Kobe sucks, but I do respect how well he is playing, especially this season and playoffs where he is getting his team involved and not going out each game solo.

Oh well, then again Spurs never had back to back titles. This is the last hurrah for Barry and Horry too.

Harvey Korman, Mel Blanc, & Phil Hartman

Sadly Harvey Korman passed away yesterday at age 81, he survived a ruptured aortic aneurysm in his abdomen four months ago, but subcommed to it after several operations.

Mel Blanc passed away in 1989, he would of been 100 today. In todays Oregonian I learned a couple things about the man of a thousand voices. He was born in San Francisco, but raised in Portland where he attended Lincoln High and did radio announcing on KEX and KGW radio up till 1935 where he moved to Hollywood, and the rest was well....That's All Folks!

It's been 10 years this week now when Phil Hartman was killed by his wife in his prime. Still sad.

Equal love to all members of Bauhaus

My Last.FM overall artists listening list (as of 5/27) shows I give equal time to both Peter Murphy and Love & Rockets.

That will change though, listening to a bunch of Peter Murphy. He is playing Saturday in Portland. He'll be performing his solo hits and Bauhaus material! This will be my 2nd time seeing him solo, 3rd overall (saw Bauhaus). I don't have tickets, planning to purchase at the door, which is cheaper than the fees Ticketbastard adds.

Ashlee Simpson sucks! (So why blog about her?)

I'll tell you why! I love Flight Of The Conchords and in the new weekly album charts they willed Ashlee into hopeful oblivion! Flight Of The Conchords debuted their first full length comedy/music album at #3 with 54k copies sold, which is 2nd best for a comedy album after Dane Cook's Retaliation hit #2 in 2006.

Ashlee? She is in a downward spiral. Her first craptaciular album sold 398k, her 2nd album 220k, and the new one? 47k...ouch, that's a drop.

Pick up Flight Of The Conchords album today. It comes with a poster inside! All their stand-up songs and ones from the HBO series too.

KATU.com adds pop-ups

In the last week or so when visiting KATU.com there is usually a pop up when entering the site or the first time clicking anywhere on the site. It comes out from the middle of the page and my pop up blocker(s) don't catch it, like it's a stealth ad. I called KATU and a web guy said that they (Fisher Communications) did some tweaking up in Seattle on their web sites. He took my feedback on the issue to forward up there including the comment that my stock in the site has dipped since, where it has been my favorite source for local news while surfing the net.

Update (5/4/08): Since posting I haven't encountered a pop-up. Nice!

Update (5/5/08): Great now it's back and worse than ever!
LifeLock whom protects you from identity thieves has a class action filed against them

A class action has been filed against LifeLock, the identity protection company whose CEO is so confident in the credit report fraud alerts it places that CEO Richard "Todd" Davis puts his Social Security Number in the company advertisements) The suit says that Lifelock misrepresents the level of security that the company provides, and its "$1 million guarantee" in case of identity theft is a bunch of hooey. In addition, it says the CEO's personal information is currently being misused by at least 20 different identity thieves. Not surprising coming from a company that was founded based on an idea one of the co-founders had while sitting in a jail cell for an unpaid $16,000 gambling debt.

Tiger Direct.com & rebates and CrapUSA (CompUSA)

I got a video card from Tiger Direct.com that included a $20 mail-in rebate. Well the company that deals with the rebates, worldwiderebates.com also deals with CrapUSA and CrapUSA.com in which I hear that people that get merchandise that comes with rebates at CrapUSA get shafted, so i'll see what happens.

My craptacular rebate expereince usually comes from the rebate processing center in El Paso that deals with Trans World Enterprises otherwise known as you local F.Y.E. music chain. I have gotten numerous postcards saying lame stuff like "Invalad UPC" which is weird since it's the one from the package. I think they do it to yank my crank or they hope that i'm gullabule and don't print copes of everything I submit. Same goes with Staples "Easy Rebates"...yeah right! It was anything but "Easy", I did get all those rebates anyways. Though I think they intentionally run a bad customer service ethic hoping customers forget after the 8-10 weeks of processing.

I get other rebates like from Di$ney and TDK that came back in 4 weeks and am pleased with that.

The CrapUSA's in the Portland area are still empty abandoned buildings...good riddance! You were decent in the 90's but sucked since. The one at 82nd and Johnson Creek wasn't even open 2 years before closing.

2008 NBA Playoffs

The playoffs are about to start and I am psyched for the next 40+ days!

Here is my First Round predictions:

Eastern:

(8) Atlanta Hawks vs. (1) Boston Celtics

Easy one...Though I like this Atlanta team with the addition of playoff experienced Bibby, Boston is a powerhouse.
Boston in 4 games. (Got it wrong)

(7) Philadelphia 76ers vs. (2) Detroit Pistons

Mo Cheeks has his team on a roll since the All-Star Break coming into the playoffs, but Detroit is the playoff team in the east, the bread and butter, and they will humiliate Philly.
Detroit in 5 games. (Got it wrong)

(6) Toronto Raptors vs. (3) Orlando Magic

Raptors have stumbled into the post season with the same record as my Blazers (41-41), and this year they won't be as good as last year, especially against Stan Van Gundy's big three whom have been nearly as great as Boston's big three.
Orlando in 5 games. (Got it right)

(5) Washington Wizards vs. (4) Cleveland Cavaliers

Once again in the first round these two teams meet. The Cavs get home court this time thanks to a late whistle in the game against Philly earlier this week. Question is will the new Cavs lineup step up in the post season? They got the experience with the new players, were they just coasting until now? How about injuries on both side?
Cleveland in 6 games.
(Got it right)

Western:

(8) Denver Nuggets vs. (1) Los Angeles Lakers

Oh boy here we go, the wild, wild west where ranking is just a number.
Ready of high scoring, octane fueled excitement? Kobe sucks and Carmello just got a DUI, apart from them the rest of the matchups will be entertaining. I hope Denver can repeat 1994.

LA Lakers in 6 games. (Got it wrong)

(7) Dallas Mavericks vs. (2) New Orleans Hornets

This one will be interesting. They just played last night, and will again this weekend. I think home court will prevail in this series for the most part.
New Orleans in 7 games. (Got it wrong)

(6) Phoenix Suns vs. (3) San Antonio Spurs

Gah! It gets worse! Again this year the Western Conference Finals starts too soon. It bites that one of these teams will be elimanted in the first round. Shaq and Amare are playing big, but this is the World Champions they are playing, and the Spurs play it different in the playoffs.
San Antonio in 7 games. (Got it wrong)

(4) Utah Jazz vs. (5) Houston Rockets

Just like 4 & 5 in the East, these two teams meet again in the first round. For Houston it's a different coach, no Yao, and that 22 game wining streak. Utah has the best home record in the regular season. Poor T Mac needs to advance.
Utah in 6 games.
(Got it right)

MESSED UP!

Perverts get your camera phones ready!

An Oklahoma court released a 34 year old man who was caught kneeling behind a 16 year old girl at a store in Tulsa, taking an "upskirt" picture of her, ruling upskirt photography in public places a legal practice.

"Oklahoma's Court of Criminal Appeals ruled that taking pictures up someone's skirt in a public place is not a crime. The court voted 4-1 in favor of 34-year-old Riccardo Ferrante who was arrested for putting his camera up an unsuspecting 16-year-old girl’s skirt in a department store, reports the Associated Press."
